Web design for Durban, from 45 km up the N2
Stryx Collective is not based in Durban. It is based in Salt Rock, Ballito, about 45 km north of the city on the N2, and works remotely. For Durban clients this makes little practical difference. In-person meetings are available from Ballito down to Umhlanga when needed. For the rest of Durban, including Durban North, Westville, Hillcrest, Pinetown and the Berea, meetings are by video call. The project itself runs through a client portal where progress is visible at every stage.
Clients deal directly with Ryan Cumming, the founder and lead consultant, who has been building websites for 10 years.

What the Durban market looks like
A search for website design in Durban returns a lot of low fixed-price offers and template sites. That works for a business that only needs to exist online. It does not work for a business that depends on the site for enquiries.
Durban visitors are mostly on phones and mostly paying for mobile data. A site that is slow or heavy on data loses them before they call. Stryx keeps pages light. Sites are designed from the desktop down and built so that every layout rescales automatically to work on all screen sizes.
Local search matters here too. People look for a service in Durban or in their own suburb, so each service gets its own page and the Google Business Profile is part of the picture. That work is covered on the SEO in Durban page.
Who this is for
Stryx suits established Durban businesses that want the website to bring in work that can be counted. Its two focus industries are hospitality (hotels, lodges and villas) and healthcare (clinics and practices). It is a specialist consultancy, not a volume agency.
Who this is not for
Stryx is not the right web design company in Durban for a business that wants the cheapest template site. Research comes before any design, and that takes time a low-cost package does not allow for. A business that only needs a basic page online quickly will be better served elsewhere.
What Stryx does differently
Every project starts with research into business goals, audience, keywords, competitors and content gaps. Each page covers one topic, so pages do not compete with each other in search. Stryx has connected websites to property management systems such as Guesty and Hostaway. Tracking for enquiries, calls and bookings is set up at launch, and results are measured on those numbers.
Clients
Stryx works with Legacy Med, an executive wellness medical assessment practice in Durban, and MoveHQ, a biokinetics and Pilates studio in Durban North.
Areas served
Stryx works with businesses across greater Durban, including Umhlanga, Durban North, Westville, Hillcrest, Pinetown and the Berea.

Questions
Questions about Website design for Durban businesses
Can't see yours? Ask Ryan directly and you'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.
Ask on WhatsAppDoes Stryx have an office in Durban?
No. Stryx is not based in Durban. It is based in Salt Rock, Ballito, about 45 km north of Durban on the N2, and works remotely.
Can we meet in person in Durban?
In-person meetings are available from Ballito down to Umhlanga. For the rest of Durban, including Durban North, Westville, Hillcrest, Pinetown and the Berea, meetings are by video call. The day-to-day project work is followed in a client portal.
Which parts of Durban does Stryx work in?
Stryx works with businesses across greater Durban, including Umhlanga, Durban North, Westville, Hillcrest, Pinetown and the Berea.
Does Stryx build cheap template websites for Durban businesses?
No. Stryx starts every project with research and builds the site around it. A business looking for the lowest-priced template site is not a good fit.
How long does a website take to build?
A typical website project takes about 6 to 8 weeks. Complexity, and how quickly content and feedback come back, can make it shorter or longer.
Do you only build in WordPress?
No. WordPress is the usual recommendation for sites that need custom functionality such as bookings, reservations or forms. Where another platform fits better, such as Shopify for e-commerce, Stryx recommends that.
Who owns the website when it is finished?
You do. Once the project is paid in full, the website and the visual elements created for you are yours.
How does payment work?
50% is paid up front and secures your place in the work queue. The remaining 50% is paid before launch.
Will my site rank on Google?
Every site Stryx builds can be indexed by search engines at launch. Rankings depend on many factors and no one can honestly guarantee them. Ongoing SEO is a separate service.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I rebuild my site?
Old URLs are mapped to the new structure and redirected at launch, which keeps the search visibility the old site had earned.
How do I keep track of the project?
You get a login to a client portal where you can see the stage the project is at and any tasks waiting on you.
What happens after launch?
Bugs that existed before launch are fixed at no extra charge. Hosting, backups, updates and content changes are covered by a website care plan.
