Web design for US businesses
Stryx Collective is a web design company based in Ballito, South Africa, that works remotely with businesses in the United States. Founder Ryan Cumming leads each project and is the client's direct contact. Stryx is not based in the US, and South Africa is six or seven hours ahead of US Eastern time.
The time difference
South Africa is 6 hours ahead of US Eastern time in the US summer and 7 hours ahead in winter. Stryx's working day overlaps with the Eastern morning. The overlap is shorter for clients farther west.
Calls are arranged at a time that suits both parties. Stryx aims to respond to work requests promptly.

Who it suits
Stryx suits an established business that needs its website to produce inquiries, calls or bookings, and is comfortable working by call, email and client portal. Its two focus industries are hospitality and healthcare.
It does not suit a business that needs someone available through the US afternoon. Most of the work is done remotely. Ryan is open to traveling when the project and budget allow.
How a remote project stays visible
Stryx is based in Salt Rock, Ballito, works remotely and has traded since 2019. Clients follow the project in a client portal and review the site on a staging server before launch. The platform is chosen to fit the business. Most overseas clients come to Stryx by referral.
US projects are quoted in US dollars. A quote follows an initial discussion to understand the scope of the project. Work starts once the agreement is signed and the invoice is paid.
Clients
Stryx works with Kalama Performance, a foilboard and paddleboard business in Hawaii.

Questions
Questions about Web design for US businesses
Can't see yours? Ask Ryan directly and you'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.
Ask on WhatsAppIs Stryx Collective based in the US?
No. Stryx is based in Salt Rock, Ballito, in South Africa, and works with US clients remotely.
Which hours overlap with US Eastern time?
The Eastern morning. South Africa is 6 hours ahead of US Eastern time in summer and 7 hours ahead in winter.
How do US businesses usually find Stryx?
Overseas clients usually arrive by referral. They deal directly with Ryan Cumming, who has been building websites for 10 years.
How long does a website take to build?
A typical website project takes about 6 to 8 weeks. Complexity, and how quickly content and feedback come back, can make it shorter or longer.
Do you only build in WordPress?
No. WordPress is the usual recommendation for sites that need custom functionality such as bookings, reservations or forms. Where another platform fits better, such as Shopify for e-commerce, Stryx recommends that.
Who owns the website when it is finished?
You do. Once the project is paid in full, the website and the visual elements created for you are yours.
How does payment work?
50% is paid up front and secures your place in the work queue. The remaining 50% is paid before launch.
Will my site rank on Google?
Every site Stryx builds can be indexed by search engines at launch. Rankings depend on many factors and no one can honestly guarantee them. Ongoing SEO is a separate service.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I rebuild my site?
Old URLs are mapped to the new structure and redirected at launch, which keeps the search visibility the old site had earned.
How do I keep track of the project?
You get a login to a client portal where you can see the stage the project is at and any tasks waiting on you.
What happens after launch?
Bugs that existed before launch are fixed at no extra charge. Hosting, backups, updates and content changes are covered by a website care plan.
