E-commerce Website Design
Stryx Collective designs and builds online stores. The platform is chosen for the business: Shopify for a store that needs to be simple to run, WooCommerce for one that needs custom functionality or lives inside a larger website. Every store is built to be found in search and measured from the first sale.
Choosing the platform
Stryx works with both Shopify and WooCommerce, and recommends one after discovery.
Shopify suits you when:
- You want hosting, security and updates handled for you
- Your products and checkout are fairly standard
- A small team runs the shop without a developer
WooCommerce suits you when:
- The shop is part of a larger WordPress website
- Products, pricing or checkout need custom rules
- The store has to connect to other systems in ways an app does not cover
- You want full ownership of the store and where it is hosted
Shopify charges a monthly fee and handles the upkeep. WooCommerce is free software that you host and maintain. Neither is cheaper in every case, so the comparison is done on your numbers.

What makes a store sell
- Clear structure Categories and filters that match how customers look for products.
- Product pages that answer questions Price, delivery, returns, sizing and stock, without making the customer hunt.
- Speed on mobile Most shopping starts on a phone.
- A short checkout Every extra field and step loses orders.
- Trust Real reviews, clear contact details and plain delivery and returns terms.
Built to be found
Category pages are planned around what people search for, and each one targets its own topic. Product information is marked up so search engines can show price and availability. If you advertise, the product feed is set up for Google Shopping. See SEO for ongoing work after launch.
Built to be measured
E-commerce tracking is set up at launch, so you can see which channels and campaigns produce sales, and not only visits.
Replacing an existing store
When a new store replaces an old one, product and category URLs are mapped and redirected at launch, so the search visibility the old store earned is kept. See website migration.

Questions
Questions about E-commerce Website Design
Can't see yours? Ask Ryan directly and you'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.
Ask on WhatsAppShopify or WooCommerce: which is better?
Neither is better in every case. Shopify is simpler to run. WooCommerce is more flexible and needs more upkeep. Stryx recommends one after looking at your products, team and systems.
How much does an online store cost?
It depends on the platform, the number of products and any custom functionality. You get a fixed quote after discovery, and changes to the scope are quoted before extra work is done.
Will I lose my rankings if I move my store to a new platform?
Product and category URLs are mapped to the new store and redirected at launch, which keeps the search visibility the old store had earned.
Can I manage products myself?
Yes. Both Shopify and WooCommerce let you add and edit products, prices and stock, and you are shown how at handover.
