WordPress Speed Optimisation

WordPress speed optimisation finds out why a site is slow and fixes the cause, whether that is a heavy page builder, too many plugins, oversized images or slow hosting. Stryx Collective measures the site with Core Web Vitals before and after, so you can see what changed, and keeps it fast through a care plan.

Why speed matters

Slow pages lose visitors before they read a word, especially on a phone. Speed also feeds into how search engines judge a page, through the measures Google calls Core Web Vitals: how quickly the main content appears, how quickly the page responds when someone taps, and whether the layout jumps around while it loads.

Making a change to a live website

What usually makes WordPress slow

  • Heavy page builders and themes that load large amounts of code on every page
  • Too many plugins, or a few badly built ones, each adding scripts and database work
  • Oversized images uploaded straight from a camera or phone
  • Third-party scripts such as chat widgets, trackers and embedded videos
  • No caching or CDN, so every page is built from scratch and served from one location
  • Slow or overcrowded hosting
  • A cluttered database after years of revisions and leftover plugin data

How Stryx speeds up a site

  • Measure first Core Web Vitals and page tests on the pages that matter, on mobile and desktop.
  • Find the cause Plugins, scripts, images and the theme reviewed for what each one costs.
  • Fix what is fixable in place Images compressed and resized, caching set up, unused plugins and scripts removed, the database cleaned.
  • Improve the hosting A CDN, and a high-performance server where the site needs it. See managed WordPress hosting.
  • Measure again The same tests after the work, so the change is visible.

When the builder is the problem

Some sites are slow because of how they were built, and there is a limit to what tuning can do. In that case, a rebuild on a lighter foundation, such as Bricks Builder, may be the better investment. Stryx will tell you when that is the case and what to expect from each option.

Staying fast

Sites slow down again as plugins are added, images are uploaded and content grows. Premium and Pro care plans include CDN deployment and regular maintenance, and the Pro plan runs on a high-performance server.

How it works

How speed optimisation runs

  1. 01

    Measure

Core Web Vitals and page tests on key pages.

  2. 02

    Diagnose

What is slowing the site, ranked by impact.

  3. 03

    Fix

Changes made on a staging copy where there is risk, then on the live site.

  4. 04

    Re-measure

The same tests repeated to show the change.

  5. 05

    Maintain

A care plan keeps the site fast as it grows.

Questions

Questions about WordPress Speed Optimisation

Can't see yours? Ask Ryan directly and you'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.

Ask on WhatsApp
Why is my WordPress site slow?

Usually a combination of a heavy theme or page builder, too many plugins, oversized images, third-party scripts and hosting without caching or a CDN.

What are Core Web Vitals?

Google's measures of page experience: how quickly the main content loads, how quickly the page responds to a tap or click, and how stable the layout is while loading.

Will a faster site rank higher?

Speed is one of many ranking signals. The bigger effect is usually on visitors, who are more likely to stay and enquire on a fast site.

Can every site be made fast?

Most can be made much faster. Some are limited by how they were built, and a rebuild on a lighter foundation is the better option.

Is speed optimisation included in a care plan?

Care plans include hosting, a CDN on Premium and Pro, and regular maintenance that keeps a site fast. A one-off speed project for a slow site is quoted separately.
