Lodge & Guest House Website Design

We design websites for South African guest houses, B&Bs and lodges. Small, owner-run properties need a site that shows the rooms honestly, explains what the rate includes, makes it easy to book or enquire, and connects to the booking system you already use, without adding admin for the owner.

Small properties have different problems

In a six-room guest house, the owner is often the reservations desk, the marketing department and the person making breakfast. A lodge may have a small team spread across guiding, the kitchen and the office.

So guest house website design is less about scale and more about saving time. The site should answer the questions that otherwise arrive by WhatsApp and email, keep availability in one place and send you enquiries that are ready to confirm.

What guests want to know before they book

  • What the rate includes Bed and breakfast, dinner, bed and breakfast, fully inclusive or self-catering.
  • How the rate is charged Per person sharing or per room, and what a single guest pays.
  • Who can stay Children, minimum ages and pets.
  • Practical details Parking, security, Wi-Fi, and backup power and water if you have them.
  • Arrival Check-in times and what happens if a guest arrives late.

Lodges need more:

  • Getting there Road conditions, whether an ordinary car will manage, gate times, GPS coordinates and the nearest fuel.
  • Activities Which are included in the rate, when they run and what to bring.
  • Seasons What changes through the year, so guests book the stay they expect.

Putting this on the page means fewer back-and-forth messages and fewer guests who arrive expecting something else.

Booking: instant, enquiry or both

A guest house with fixed room rates usually suits instant online booking. A lodge that sells packages, transfers and activities often works better with an enquiry form that asks for dates, group size and interests, so the first reply can be a proper quote.

Many South African properties already run a local booking system. NightsBridge, for example, offers a booking engine that sits on your own website alongside a channel manager that updates availability across booking channels. We have integrated booking systems such as Bookem with WordPress. Whichever one you use, we connect it instead of asking you to change, so there is still one calendar and no double bookings.

Two honest limits. Booking engines restrict how much of the booking step we can design, so it may not look exactly like the rest of your site. And whether we can track a completed booking back to where the guest came from depends on the engine. Our booking engines comparison covers what to check.

Being found in your town

Guest houses and B&Bs are found mostly through Google Maps and searches for a place to stay in a specific town or suburb. According to Google's Business Profile help, local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, and complete, accurate business information helps Google match you to a search.

We set up or tidy your Google Business Profile and build pages around the real reasons people stay with you: a nearby hospital, a wedding venue, a school, a business park, a route or a reserve. That work is part of our local SEO service.

Simple to run

We usually build guest house and lodge sites on WordPress with Bricks Builder. You can change photos, specials and text yourself, and rates stay in your booking system. We design desktop-down and build each layout to rescale to every screen size, with pages that stay quick on phones.

Every project starts with research into your guests and the searches they make. If you already have a site, we start with an audit and recommend a rebuild only if it needs one.

Who we work with

We work with small and independent properties such as Thanda Manzi, a country hotel in the Hennops River Valley in Gauteng, and Botanica, boutique guest cottages in Grand Cayman.

If your property is on a working farm or estate, see websites for wine estates and farm stays. Our hospitality overview covers the wider service. To talk about your guest house or lodge, get in touch.

Questions

Questions about Lodge & Guest House Website Design

Can't see yours? Ask Ryan directly and you'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.

Ask on WhatsApp
We already use NightsBridge or another booking system. Can you connect it?

Usually, yes. Most booking systems provide a booking button, widget or link for the property's own website. How closely it blends into the site depends on the system, so we look at yours before we quote.

Do we need online booking, or is an enquiry form enough?

It depends on how you sell. Fixed room rates suit instant booking. Packages with activities, transfers or tailored stays often work better with an enquiry form that collects dates and group details. Some properties offer both.

We only have a few rooms. Do we need a full website?

You need a site sized to the property. For a small guest house that can be a handful of pages: the rooms, what the rate includes, the area, how to get there and how to book. It should still load quickly and be easy to find on Google Maps.

Can we update the website ourselves?

Yes. We build the site so you can change photos, text and specials without a developer. If you would prefer not to, our website care plans include small changes.

Do you only work with properties near Ballito?

No. We are based in Salt Rock, Ballito, and work remotely with properties across South Africa and abroad. In-person meetings are possible from Ballito down to Umhlanga.

Be the business they find first

Tell Ryan what you sell and who buys it. You'll get a straight answer on what's holding your website back and what to fix first. There's no obligation to go ahead.

  • More enquiries you can trace. You'll see which search, page or ad brought in each call, booking and form.

  • Higher in search results. On Google, in the map results and in AI answers, for the searches your customers make.

  • One person to talk to. Ryan answers on WhatsApp and sends a plain-language report on results every month.
