Website Support Retainers

A website support retainer is a monthly arrangement for ongoing development work beyond what a care plan covers: new features, changes, integrations and fixes. Stryx Collective agrees the scope and monthly fee up front, and retainer clients get priority responses from one person who already knows the site.

Care plan or retainer

A care plan keeps a site hosted, backed up, updated and current, with a small number of content hours each month. A retainer is for businesses whose website is always changing:

  • Regular new pages, sections or features
  • Ongoing improvements based on what the analytics show
  • Integrations that need adding to or adjusting
  • Campaign work, such as landing pages
  • A development partner on call for whatever comes up

Many retainer clients also have a care plan, so the maintenance and the development are handled by the same person.

How a retainer works

  • Scope agreed up front The kind of work covered and the monthly fee are agreed before it starts, so there are no surprise invoices.
  • Priority response Retainer clients are answered ahead of non-retainer work.
  • One contact You deal with the same person each month, by email or WhatsApp.
  • Monthly rhythm Work is planned and reviewed each month, so it follows your priorities rather than whatever came in last.
  • Month to month Retainers run month to month.

What it suits

  • Businesses that rely on their website for sales, bookings or enquiries and change it often
  • Marketing teams who need a developer without hiring one
  • Sites with integrations that need regular attention, such as a booking system or CRM. See systems integration
  • Agencies that need regular WordPress development capacity. See white-label WordPress development

Support hours

Support hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 17:00 South African time, which overlaps with the working day in the UK and Europe and the morning in the Americas.
