WordPress web design and development for South African businesses
Stryx Collective offers WordPress web design and development in South Africa for businesses that need a WordPress site built or an existing one taken over. This is a service page, not a job listing. Stryx is based in Salt Rock, Ballito, and works with clients across the country.
A WordPress service for businesses, not a job advert
A search for a WordPress developer in South Africa mostly returns job adverts. This page is not one. Stryx Collective is a WordPress consultancy in South Africa: one that businesses hire to build a WordPress site or to take over the one they already have.
Stryx is based in Salt Rock, Ballito, and has traded since 2019. Clients deal directly with founder Ryan Cumming, who has been building websites for 10 years.

New sites on Bricks Builder
New WordPress sites are built with Bricks Builder. WordPress is not used by default. The platform is chosen to fit, and WordPress is the usual choice when a site needs bookings, reservations or forms. For a shop, Shopify is sometimes the better answer, and Stryx will say so.
South African visitors are mostly on phones and paying for mobile data, so WordPress web design in South Africa has to be light. Pages are built to load quickly on a phone.
Custom development and integrations
Many WordPress sites need to talk to another system. Stryx has integrated booking systems such as Bookem with WordPress websites so clients can book online.
Stryx has connected websites to property management systems such as Guesty and Hostaway.
Stryx also builds automations between business systems. This is separate work that does not involve WordPress. Stryx builds automations with Make.com between systems such as booking and accounting software.
Taking over an existing WordPress site
Stryx takes over WordPress sites that were built by someone else. A takeover starts with an audit of how the site has been built. The audit flags anything likely to cause problems and sets out possible solutions. A site that is built well and working well is kept. A rebuild is recommended only if it is needed. When a site is replaced, old URLs are redirected.
Stryx has moved sites from Elementor to Bricks.
Care plans
After launch or takeover, the site can go onto a care plan. There are three: Hosting, Premium and Pro. Plans run month to month with 30 days' written notice to cancel. Clients can choose to host in the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom or South Africa, and most South African clients choose South Africa or Europe. Support hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 17:00 South African time. See website care plans.

Can Stryx connect a WordPress site to booking or accounting software?
Yes. Stryx has integrated booking systems such as Bookem with WordPress websites so clients can book online. It has also connected websites to property management systems such as Guesty and Hostaway. When should I use WordPress?
When your site needs to be dynamic and carry extra functionality, such as a booking system, reservations or forms, and it needs to be easy to customise.
Is WordPress right for an online shop?
Sometimes. For some shops a dedicated platform such as Shopify is the better choice. Stryx recommends what suits your use case.

Yes. Once the project is paid in full you own the website and the visual elements created for you. WordPress itself and third-party plugins are open-source or licensed software that no client or agency owns.
Who pays for premium plugin licences?
On a care plan, licences Stryx already holds are included. A plugin that is specific to your site and not one Stryx normally uses is licensed by you.
How long does a WordPress website take?
A typical website project takes about 6 to 8 weeks, depending on complexity and how quickly content and feedback come back.
Which page builder do you use?
New WordPress sites are built with Bricks Builder. It produces light pages and keeps content editing separate from layout, so the design is hard to break by accident.
