A WordPress developer for UK businesses

Stryx Collective builds and develops WordPress websites for UK businesses, working remotely from Ballito, South Africa. New sites are built with Bricks Builder, and existing sites can be taken over and extended. As a WordPress consultancy for UK clients, it is small by design: clients work directly with founder Ryan Cumming.

What UK businesses ask for

Most WordPress work falls into three kinds.

  • New builds New WordPress sites are built with Bricks Builder. WordPress is the usual choice when a site needs bookings, reservations or forms.
  • Custom development and integrations Stryx has connected websites to property management systems such as Guesty and Hostaway. It has integrated booking systems such as Bookem with WordPress websites so clients can book online.
  • Taking over an existing site Stryx takes on sites built by someone else, including sites built with other page builders. It starts with an audit of how the site has been built. The audit flags anything likely to cause problems and sets out possible solutions. A rebuild is recommended only if it is needed. A site that is built well and working well is kept. Stryx has moved sites from Elementor to Bricks.

Separately from its WordPress work, Stryx builds automations with Make.com between systems such as booking and accounting software. That is systems automation and does not involve WordPress.

A WordPress developer in South Africa, not the UK

Stryx is not based in the UK and does not claim to be. It is based in Salt Rock, Ballito, and works remotely. South Africa is 1 hour ahead of the UK in summer and 2 hours ahead in winter, so the working day is shared almost in full. Stryx aims to respond to work requests promptly. Work is done on a staging server and tracked in a client portal.

Questions

Questions about A WordPress developer for UK businesses

Can't see yours? Ask Ryan directly and you'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.

Ask on WhatsApp
Can Stryx take over a WordPress site built by another agency?

Yes. Stryx takes on existing WordPress sites, including sites built with other page builders. It starts with an audit of how the site has been built. The audit flags anything likely to cause problems and sets out possible solutions. A rebuild is recommended only if it is needed, and a site that is built well and working well is kept.

Does Stryx only build with Bricks Builder?

New WordPress sites are built with Bricks Builder. The platform is chosen to fit the business, so Stryx will say so if WordPress is not the right choice.

Is Stryx a UK-based WordPress developer?

No. Stryx is based in Salt Rock, Ballito, in South Africa and works with UK clients remotely. Clients deal directly with Ryan Cumming.

When should I use WordPress?

When your site needs to be dynamic and carry extra functionality, such as a booking system, reservations or forms, and it needs to be easy to customise.

Is WordPress right for an online shop?

Sometimes. For some shops a dedicated platform such as Shopify is the better choice. Stryx recommends what suits your use case.

Do I own my WordPress website?

Yes. Once the project is paid in full you own the website and the visual elements created for you. WordPress itself and third-party plugins are open-source or licensed software that no client or agency owns.

Who pays for premium plugin licences?

On a care plan, licences Stryx already holds are included. A plugin that is specific to your site and not one Stryx normally uses is licensed by you.

How long does a WordPress website take?

A typical website project takes about 6 to 8 weeks, depending on complexity and how quickly content and feedback come back.

Which page builder do you use?

New WordPress sites are built with Bricks Builder. It produces light pages and keeps content editing separate from layout, so the design is hard to break by accident.
