Stryx Collective provides managed WordPress hosting for South African businesses whose websites it looks after, from Salt Rock, Ballito. Hosting is the entry care plan: optimised WordPress hosting, daily off-site backups and DNS management, month to month, in the hosting region the client chooses.
What this is, and what it is not
This is managed hosting from a consultancy, for the websites it looks after. It is not a cheap shared-hosting product. A business that only wants the lowest hosting price will be better served by a hosting company.
Stryx has been trading since 2019, and clients deal directly with founder Ryan Cumming.
What the Hosting plan includes
Hosting is the entry plan of Stryx's three care plans. It includes:
- optimised WordPress hosting
- daily off-site backups
- DNS management
The Premium and Pro plans add more. They are set out on the website care plans in South Africa page.
Choosing a hosting region
Clients choose the region the site is hosted in: the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom or South Africa. Most South African clients choose South Africa or Europe.
POPIA
Under POPIA, Stryx acts as the client's operator. The operator contract is part of the service agreement.
Terms and support
The plan runs month to month and can be cancelled on 30 days' written notice.
Support hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 17:00 South African time, excluding South African public holidays. Stryx aims to respond to requests promptly. Clients deal with one person, in Salt Rock, Ballito.

What is Stryx's role under POPIA when it hosts my site?
Stryx acts as your operator under POPIA. The operator contract is part of the service agreement.
Where will my website be hosted?
In the region you choose: the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom or South Africa.
Do you host email?
No. Email stays with a dedicated email provider. Stryx keeps the DNS records it depends on correct.
How often is my site backed up?
Daily on the Hosting and Premium plans, hourly on Pro. Backups are stored off-site and kept for 30 days.
Does the Hosting plan include WordPress updates?
No. The Hosting plan covers hosting, backups and DNS. Updates, monitoring and malware scans are part of Premium and Pro.
Can you move my site from my current host?
Yes. The migration includes a full backup first, testing on the new server and keeping the old host for 14 days as a fallback.
